Costa Rica Visitor Information Entry Requirements Proof of Citizenship: Proof of citizenship and/or official documentation is required to enter Costa Rica. U.S. citizens, including infants and children, are required to present one of the following documents as proof of citizenship:
*Passengers (17 years of age and older) are required to carry an official photo ID. (such as a driver's license or other state issued or government authority ID.) when using one of these proof of citizenship documents. Other forms of identification may be accept able for entry; however, any documentation other than the two forms listed above may result in a delay and/or denied boarding. Travel to Costa Rica: It is recommended that minors (16 years of age and under) traveling to Costa Rica who are:
Tourist Card: Travelers to Costa Rica who do not have a passport are required to purchase and complete a tourist card. This will be issued upon arrival in Costa Rica. Cost is approximately $2.50 U.S. Special requirements apply for non-U.S. citizens. Contact the Embassy of Costa Rica and U.S. Immigration regarding document requirements. Important: Correct travel documents are the traveler's responsibility. Escapade Travel assumes no liability for costs incurred or denied boarding as a result of failure to comply with customs and/or immigration requirements. Passengers who are denied boarding for lack of proper travel documentation will forfeit all money paid for unused air seats and any other non-recoverable costs. Costa Rica is a very casual and adventurous country. Seldom will formal wear be required at any hotel or restaurant.
